A Beginner's Guide to Start Hunting Ghosts


So you want to start hunting ghosts? Before you do, there are a few basic things you need to be made aware of. Many people have pondered the reason why ghosts seem make their “appearance” only during the evening hours, some say it is because there are less people around or they are just more accustomed to the dark.


However, ghosts do not sleep or take breaks; they cannot differentiate between night and day. Therefore, they are around during all hours, we just don’t notice it during the day when we are busy. Whatever the reason really is, you must be prepared to do most of your hunting work in the dark. Therefore, the first tool you are going to need in your “toolbox” is a source of light.

Now some would suggest a standard flashlight would be sufficient; however, as a ghost hunter, it will be necessary for your hands to be available for other things besides holding a flashlight. Therefore, you will need to find something more efficient, such as a headlight. The type that you often see miners wearing that straps to your head will give you a sufficient amount of light. Experienced ghost hunters advise to use red LED light as it preserves your night vision. You will also need to have a supply of extra batteries available so if your light runs out of battery power you won’t get stuck in the dark. 

Another important piece of equipment you are going to need is an EMF detector. This is a device that reads the magnetic fields in which ghost may be present. If your EMF detector gets readings between 2.0 and 7.0 milligauss this could mean you have located a ghost. 

You will also need a thermostat because ghosts tend to cause a fluctuation in temperature. Another tool for your toolbox is a FLIR camera. This is a gadget that can notice any visible environmental changes. Finally, a motion detector is something that you will need; it can detect any unusual movements in the area. One more piece of equipment that is necessary is an EVP (electronic voice phenomena) device. This handy device aids in attempted to communicate with the spirits you are hunting for. 

Now that you have this beginners guide for hunting ghosts, you are ready to get started. However, it is advisable that you first go out with experience paranormal investigators. This way they can show you how it is done before venturing out on your own.
